After remembering our lost loved ones and pondering what more could be done to improve ourselves and help others, it was now time to break the day&#8217;s fast. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-9096\" src=\"http:\/\/chezhelvetica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/BreakFast-Fritters3-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>At ChezHelvetica, this meant<em> Mezze<\/em>, small dishes of Middle Eastern heritage to share. Our feast started with Fuji Apple slices and the sweetest Honey from <em>Tierra Del Ciel<\/em>o Bee Farm in Santa Margarita (gift from sister Abby), then progressed to savory <a href=\"https:\/\/mylovelylittlelunchbox.com\/2015\/11\/10\/zucchini-brussel-sprout-fritters\/\">Zucchini\/Brussel Sprout Fritters<\/a> spiced with Mint, Basil, Garlic and Lemon Zest, served with <em>Galbani<\/em> Ricotta Cheese. My dear friend Joan provided a platter of wonderful\u00a0<em>La Mediterannee<\/em> bites (Dolmas, Spinach and Chicken Filos) with Hummus, Aubergine Dip, Pita Bread and Challah (made by daughter Arielle) and Balsamic Beets Salad with Medjool Dates and Walnuts. Our cups runneth over with\u00a0<em>Frei<\/em>\u00a0<em>Brothers<\/em> Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley (stains removed from the white linens with some salt and <em>Wine Away<\/em>). <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-9097\" src=\"http:\/\/chezhelvetica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/BreakFast-Mezze3-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>This special night ended with a delicious Apple Tart (home made by the Shabbos Goy) \u00e0 la mode. <strong><em>Let all our futures be special, filled with hope!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, set with the sun and promising seal for a good New Year.
